Why Buy CM2?

A quick bit of propaganda for those who haven't got the game

CM2 (Championship Manager 2) is just about the best game every written. You take over the complete running of a football club of your choice (any in the English or Scottish league). You then choose formation, tactics, team etc. for each match, augmenting your squad (hopefully) with some transfer wheeler dealing.

It has a huge player database, full squads of up to 30 players for each of the British teams, including some reasonably accurate prominent youth players. You can also choose to buy from a huge selection of foreign talent or scour the bargain basement for released players on free transfers, even including Roger Stansislaus the former Leyton Orient defender dumped from his club after being caught using Cocaine (perfect for Arsenal or what!). You can continue to manage your club for unlimited seasons, players retire and go into management, new players develope, Torquay get into the Premiere, you can jump ship to manage another team, or get sacked because you're crap.

I will say this only once. THIS GAME IS VERY ADDICTIVE. If you have even the slightest interest in football you will love it. If you are an obsessive like me you will spend hours trawling through lists of eastern European sweepers looking for a new captain. If you are not obsessive you will become so.

Now available from your locally GAME store (yes its cheesy plug time) is the latest updated version. BUY THIS. Its only twenty quid and includes data up to date from about a month ago. That means pretty much only Nick Barmby hasn't moved. It refines the gameplay a lot, especially when dealing with longer multi-season games. There are no more foreign player rules, and the Bosman ruling is in full effect. That means once anyone playing in an EEC country comes out of contract they are available for free transfer, and if they are any good able to try and grab huge wages. The summer becomes a mad scramble desperately trying to sign anyone who is any good to pep up your side, and fighting to hold on to your established stars. This version is the best by far.
